a few of my favorite things
currently
chesapeake bay candles, specifically this one and this one — some synthetic fragrances make me sick, so I’ve stayed away from candles for a long time, but these are scented with essential oils. they smell really good, have a decent throw and they don’t make my sinuses feel like they’re on fire or make my head hurt at all so I’m a fan.
my simple modern tumbler — I bought this tumbler four months ago and it’s safe to say I’ve drank out if it almost every day since then. I love looking at it, holding it, drinking out it. it brings me so much simple, daily sensory joy. 10s across the board. I love this one specifically because the cup, the straw, the lid and all of its pieces are all the same color. a cohesive, monochromatic delight. and loving the cup so much means I want to use it often which means I absolutely drink more water than I would otherwise.
Quince European Linen Duvet Deluxe Bundle in Sand — first of all, linen sheets are truly just as lovely as I imagined them to be. similar to the simple modern tumbler, I love looking at this bedding just as much as I enjoy the feel of it. I also did the interior designer trick of putting two duvet inserts inside of the duvet cover to get a more plush, hotel look. it makes putting the duvet cover on even more of a pain in the ass than it already was, but it looks fantastic so it’s worth it.
cheez-it snap’d — the texture!? the flavor!? these are an instant American junk food classic, idc. I took a chance on buying these from costco once and they skyrocketed to the top of my safe & comfort snack foods list. I’m talking quadruple platinum, baby. right up there with kettle cooked jalapeño chips. you know what, these actually belong in the all time favorites category.
phone calls with my friends — okay, this could also go in the faves of all time category but I really wanted to include a current fave that’s not a physical item and talking to my friends is really such a balm for my spirit. navigating unexpected major life changes requires a lot of energy. the last nine months of my life have challenged me and taken me outside of my comfort zone in brand new ways and I have said “I am not having a good time” out loud to myself many, many times. through all of it, I’ve been able to look forward to virtual coworking dates with my friend Chloe, randomly catching up with my childhood bestie Kennon, hourslong convos with Gabby, sip and smoke sessions with Andra, hearing about Angel’s trip to Costa Rica, unexpected Facetime calls from Ashley and baby Ezra. I used to fantasize about having a gang of close girlfriends and now it’s real!
steaming my face then oil cleansing before gel cleansing — tretinoin has been making my skin dry and flaky and my gut told me to steam my face then oil cleanse with jojoba oil before using the cleanser my dermatologist told me to use. I think it’s working brilliantly
